On Tuesday, October 29, 2019,
students across Iowa will participate in the
Iowa Youth Straw Poll.
Homeschooled students are invited to participate,
allowing them to voice their opinion
on the U.S. President, U.S. Senate,
and U.S. House of Representative races.
Homeschooling families can sign up just like other educational entities. You'll just need to supply basic contact information and create a login password.
When you register, you'll receive some informational election materials, so signing up quickly will assure they'll reach you before the Iowa Youth Straw Poll date.
However, you can sign up your student for the straw poll right up until the actual polling date, October 29.
4) Will you register to vote when old enough?

ADDITIONAL RESOURCE
The Elections 101 curriculum is a FREE online resource provided by the Iowa Secretary of State.
It is essentially a ten-day curriculum with each lesson plan presented in three different time frame options to accommodate your student's schedule for viewing the material and completing the activities.
The Elections 101 curriculum is completely customizable. Feel free to modify lesson plans to better align with your unique teaching style and your student's needs.
ENGAGEMENT
The curriculum encourages students to apply what they learn beyond the classroom.
APPLICABILITY
Students will learn life skills, such as how to formulate an argument and engage in healthy, constructive debates.
RELEVANCE
Through optional social media enhancements, students have the opportunity to become more invested in civic responsibilities, such as learning about political candidates, attending the Iowa Caucus, and registering to vote.
VERSATILITY
The curriculum and enhancements can be matched to student interests and abilities.
FLEXIBILITY
Supplement what you already teach. Use as much or as little of the material as you want. You can choose 30, 60, or 90-minute lessons to meet scheduling needs.
