Your homeschooled student will enjoy exploring science topics with hands-on activities at the Bluedorn Science Imaginarium in Waterloo.
2019 School Year Workshop Dates:
October 2, 2019 - Lego Robotics
2 sessions: 9am-Noon or 1-4pm
Learn the difference between robots and simple machines, as well as how algorithms tell robots what to do. Campers will also practice basic programming skills. Find out what inspires robotics engineers with their designs. Then, design and build your own basic robot to perform a simple task using LEGO blocks.

December 4, 2019 - From Moon to Mars: The Science of Space Colonization
2 sessions: 9am-Noon or 1-4pm
Join GMD staff as we look to the stars in support of NASA's Moon to Mars colonization program! Learn about the types of science needed to get people into space, as well as what humans need to survive in extreme conditions. Brainstorm what humans need to build a colony on the moon, then design and build your own space station.

February 5, 2019 - Engineering Olympics
2 sessions: 9am-Noon or 1-4pm
Put your skills to the test as you compete in the GMD Engineering Olympics! Learn about how different types of engineering create the world around us as well as famous engineers of the past. Then, face off against other students in challenges designed to test your ability to build bridges, support weight, and launch projectiles.

April 1, 2019 - Forensic Science
2 sessions: 9am-Noon or 1-4pm
A crime has been committed at the Imaginarium. As junior detectives, it's up to YOU to figure out the culprit. Find out about different types of forensic science as you learn how to collect evidence, take fingerprints, and evaluate shoe prints and DNA.Put your skills to the test to solve the case.
