The State Science & Technology Fair of Iowa 2022 is the largest youth STEM competition in the state.
Public, private, and homeschooled students in grades 6-12 can present their scientific research projects and communicate their findings to judges from across the state.
Students compete for awards, prizes, scholarships, and trips to the International Science and Engineering Fair, held in Atlanta, Georgia in May of 2022.
This is a wonderful opportunity for students to dig deeper into the world of science and research while also focusing on the Next Generation Science Standards.
Students gain knowledge in not only research, but also in effective communication skills, organization skills, critical thinking skills, and problem-solving skills.
There is no cost or eligibility requirements to participate in the fair.
Students must fill out paperwork, however, to make sure their projects meets fair regulations.
There are two regional fairs, one in Cedar Rapids for students who live on the east side of I-35 and one in Fort Dodge for students who live west of I-35. Participation in the regional fairs is not required, though.
