2026 IOWA CODE IMPROVEMENTS
Thanks to efforts by our Homeschool Iowa Lobbyist
and friends of homeschooling families in both chambers of the Iowa Legislature,
Iowa homeschooled student diplomas are officially recognized,
IPI has been deregulated,
CPI Form A has been improved,
and more!
SPECIAL MINOR'S RESTRICTED LICENSE
Thanks to efforts by our Homeschool Iowa Lobbyist
and friends of homeschooling families in both chambers of the Iowa Legislature,
Iowa homeschooled students are finally represented equitably
in Iowa law governing driving privileges for minors.
CHAPTER 31 RULES
The Iowa Department of Education has adopted
new Chapter 31 rules
to implement the laws governing Iowa homeschooling.
ESA Legislation
Many are asking,
“How does the Students First Act impact homeschoolers?”
The short answer is
that it does not directly impact homeschooling for good or ill.
The Education Savings Account available under the Student First Act is accessible only to students who will enroll in an accredited private school. It is not available to homeschool students or those attending non-accredited private schools.
Some details of the law will be fleshed out in the rule-making process,
so stay tuned for updates.
