Terri Nowotny

Terri and her husband Marty have been married for 28 years,

have five children, and five grandsons. She has served faithfully

for years as a homeschool supervising teacher, traveling many

miles to meet with families, and she helped to start a home-

school support group in her area. Terri coordinated the teacher

re-certification credit course at this year’s Homeschool Iowa Con-

ference and has served as a conference speaker as well.

Brenda Kelly

Brenda has, from the time she started homeschooling 26 years

ago, looked forward to the day when she would be able to en-

courage others in their homeschooling journeys because it is

such a passion of hers. Gifts of hospitality and encouragement

have given her the opportunities to do just that, including serv-

ing as a Homeschool Iowa Conference team member. Brenda

and her husband Chris have been married 32 years and have six

children.

Region 11

Natalie Schneckloth

Natalie and her husband Cory have been blessed with 10 years

of marriage and three children. She has helped to create a suc-

cessful local homeschool co-op and homeschool curriculum li-

brary. Natalie has experience homeschooling with very limited

financial resources, so she has a heart to reach out to those who

struggling in that area. She also served as a speaker at the 2017

Homeschool Iowa Conference.

Kathryn Wilson

Kathryn has co-hosted a local online homeschool support group

and encouraged homeschooling families in her area, promoting

home education and helping parents succeed as effective teach-

ers. She also served on the 2017 Homeschool Iowa conference

team. Married for 18 years, she and her husband Steve have four

children.

Region 12

Dawn Meadows

Dawn has lived in Iowa for 3 years, but she has already accepted a

leadership role in her local homeschool support group here after

serving as a group leader in her former state. She and her hus-

band Russ have been married for 12 years and have five children,

three of whom have graduated. Dawn is dedicated to supporting

and encouraging homeschooling families in her newly-adopted

home state of Iowa.

Region 13

Karen Courtney

Karen and her husband Mark have been married for 35 years

and have eight children, graduating the youngest this past May.

She has served for many years as a supervising teacher in sev-

eral counties, as well as moderating a Facebook page for home-

schooling families in her area. Karen is ready and willing to share

from her experience and to offer encouragement to homeschool-

ing families in her region.

Donna Owen

Donna admits that a dozen years ago she didn’t know anything

about homeschooling, but through helpful mentors, personal

research, and homeschooling three children for 11 years, she’s

learned a lot. She has served in leadership roles in several local

homeschool support groups and has an extensive networking

connection with many homeschooling families. Donna has been

married to Jon for 22 years.

Region 14

Cathy Sorensen

Cathy has been married to Bob for 33 years, and they have two

children and two foster sons. She served as president of the large

homeschool support group in her local area and has continued

to coordinate the Mentoring Moms program in that group for 18

years. Cathy is passionate about helping homeschooling families

and promoting home education.
