The NICHE display and information booth attracted many interested visitors during the 2009 Iowa State Fair August 13-23.
The booth, located in the east grandstand, was staffed by NICHE board members and volunteer homeschooling families from all across the state.
Visitors to the booth had access to lots of free information and materials, including complimentary copies of the new NICHE magazine, Homeschool Iowa, and The Old Schoolhouse magazine.
Brochures & pamphlets on homeschooling were distributed and a daily drawing for a 1-year subscription to The Old Schoolhouse was offered. Information on efforts toward a federal parental rights amendment was also available.
The portable trade booth display seen in the back of this photo was designed and purchased by NICHE over a year ago.
NICHE has been using this display to promote home education in a variety of venues, including the state fair, the state capitol and family-oriented conferences.
Many thanks to NICHE board member Kristi Northway, who coordinated NICHE efforts to sponsor a display at the 2009 Iowa State Fair.
Kristi, pictured here (on the right) with volunteer Teressa Edwards, put much time and effort into securing materials for the display and scheduling volunteers to work the 2-six-hour shifts on all 11 days of the fair. Thanks to all volunteer staff, as well!
